CLIFFORD HALLAM HEALTHCARE (CH2) TO ACQUIRE OBORNE HEALTH SUPPLIES (OBORNE)

CLIFFORD HALLAM HEALTHCARE (CH2) TO ACQUIRE OBORNE HEALTH SUPPLIES (OBORNE)

We are pleased to announce that CH2 is acquiring Oborne Health Supplies. Established in 1990 by Gillian & Barry Oborne, Oborne Health Supplies is now the leading distributor of natural TGA listed medicines, traditional and complementary health products servicing both the complementary and orthodox healthcare sectors. Oborne currently trades out of 3 distribution centres in Victoria, Queensland & Western Australia.

CH2 intends to acquire the ongoing trading business including all ongoing contracts, IP, business names, and assets & liabilities once the Completion Precedents have been finalised. We expect this to be finalised no later than the 29th February 2024.

Oborne distributes a range of over 11,000 products from over 400 brands to a broad and diversified customer base. Integrity and excellence in service have earned Oborne the position of being the distributor of choice to natural health practitioners, other registered health practitioners, retail pharmacies, as well as health food stores, and online health product retailers.

Oborne employs 40 naturopaths consisting of a highly knowledgeable customer support team, qualified naturopath sales representatives and administration team. The high proportion of qualified naturopaths enables the business to provide customers with unbiased and independent product recommendations, in-depth technical support and ongoing education. Oborne employs 122 staff covering, finance, warehouse, IT, sales, purchasing, customer service, marketing, graphic design and HR.

CH2 sees this acquisition as a natural fit within our healthcare distribution business with overlapping customers in all segments. This will create our 8th business unit, “Complementary Medicines”.

Oborne will be renamed CH2 Oborne Health Supplies and will continue to operate as an independent division under Clifford Hallam Healthcare Pty Limited until the transition onto the one IT platform is complete, which will then enable further integration into the CH2 distribution network. CH2 intend to provide the necessary ongoing financial support, investment in stock, information systems and people to ensure we can build on the excellent work of Gillian & Barry Oborne, who built the Oborne business into the success it is today. It is CH2’s intention to expand the business to all states throughout Australia.

CH2 will be taking on all employees except Gillian & Barry Oborne who plan to retire after a completing a handover to CH2.

Strategically the Oborne and CH2 businesses are a very good fit. Both businesses are specialist healthcare wholesalers. Both organisations service the same customers in retail pharmacy and primary care. Oborne gives CH2 the opportunity to expand our healthcare range providing a wholistic approach to health to all customers and opens up the high growth Complementary Medicines market via prescribing naturopaths. CH2 has a strategy of continuing to increase our range and scale in distribution and this acquisition is a logical next step for CH2.

We see this as another important step in advancing CH2’s commitment to Australian Healthcare. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or your local CH2 contact if you have any questions.

Kind regards

David Collins
